Welcome to MonkeyCMS
What is MonkeyCMS?
MonkeyCMS is a PHP/MySQL-based content management system (CMS) that offers unprecedented control over content, layout and users all through a web-browser interface. You can store thousands of pieces of content, multiple layouts, promote user interaction, manipulate images and even drive social networking through this one piece of software.
Where can MonkeyCMS be used?
MonkeyCMS is totally scalable from the smallest intranet installation to the largest imaginable content-driven portal. It has been used extensively on a number of hugely popular sites since 2004 and has been thoroughly road tested. It can be maintained easily by any number of users, and configuration and installation can be achieved in a few clicks. Your content writers need to know nothing about the technical side of the internet.
It can be operated by users of all skill levels - from the basic data inputter right up to the most accomplished HTML and PHP programmer. It offers unlimited expansion capability on top of its already extensive functionality. You can use it as a blog, a portal, a review site or anything you like. You can restrict your content to registered users or specific groups - and this can be done at the smallest granularity. You can have many admin users with different privileges allowing you to create a hierarchical content provider structure.
Is it free?
MonkeyCMS' fair use licence permits the use of the software without charge - you can download it from this site and install it on as many websites as you like. If you want us to set up your site for you we can do this for a fee, but to actually use the software you don't have to pay a penny.
What about support?
Our discussion forum provides direct access to our development team. All users are treated equally and there isn't a paid support option. It is in our interests to address your issues and provide support as quickly as possible in order to maintain MonkeyCMS' reputation. We also respond positively to feature requests and attempt to add any suggested features that are beneficial to the core package as quickly as possible.
Does MonkeyCMS have protection against spammers and abuse?
Yes, MonkeyCMS incorporates a number of spam-proofing measures to keep your site free from abuse. No software application is 100% spam-proof, and we recognise this fact by providing you with the tools to handle spam quickly and efficiently. If a user spams your site, the chances are your users will never see it and you can quickly remove all of this spam within a couple of clicks. User registration checks are in place to prevent spammers from registering in the first place - these are configurable and have proved to be very effective when used on our own sites.
In addition, sometimes users can cause trouble and we are prepared for this too. The MonkeyCMS 'Black Book' is designed to allow you to record any user abuse of the your site in a way to ensure that you have a record of all activity you wish to note. Users can be banned, as can email addresses and IP addresses. You can quickly ban a member, delete all of their posts and ensure they no longer have the ability to cause you trouble quickly and easily with a couple of clicks.
What can MonkeyCMS do with images?
The quick answer: 'lots!'. The long answer: MonkeyCMS allows you to upload, protect, watermark, resize, rotate and adjust the quality of the images on your site all through simple HTTP query parameters. MonkeyCMS image functionality is very powerful and can easily be tapped.
What can MonkeyCMS users do?
MonkeyCMS users can set up their own profiles, send each other messages, comment on content and submit content to your site. You can even set up groups to allow only certain users access to certain content, restrict content to only registered users or even just to individual users. Future releases of MonkeyCMS will introduce more social networking features including user-created groups, photo albums and discussion forums.
